Headed Back to Manila to Act
Headed to the Philippines later today! I’ll be arriving this week to start a new adventure in acting haha. I’m nervous, but also really excited to try this new experience. I’ll be doing a mini-series for TV5 and will be filming in the Philippines for the next few weeks. Hope everyone has had a good start to their year and I’ll talk to you guys when I arrive in Manila!
New Blog: Hello Again
Hey everyone. It’s Daaavid here. This last week I went to Cleveland, Ohio to make an appearance at the IX Indoor Amusement Park. I got sick while I was there, so I unfortunately didn’t get to ride any of the rides. I did get to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame though! I really enjoyed looking at all the different things they had there, like outfits, notes, guitars, and other things of iconic figures in music. They have the jacket Michael Jackson wore in Thriller! Pretty insane. You can’t take pictures inside though, so I don’t have any lol. But while I was there, they had an event going on after it closed I guess. I’m not exactly sure what was going on, but I know that the guy who did the Evolution of Dance on Youtube was there!! I saw him from a distance, and he had the classic orange Crush shirt. I was thinking, “…He looks familiar… but why?…… oh my gosh! It’s the Evolution of Dance guy!” So I got to meet him and take a picture with him haha. So yeah, Ohio was pleasant.
I was in Utah for a couple of days after Ohio, and had the chance to go to the Brandi Carlile concert! I really love Brandi’s album The Story, but wasn’t really familiar with anything else. I listen to that album all the time though. She has such a powerful, emotional voice. It’s like you can feel her pain or how she feels for the songs she’s singing, and it draws you in. It has a westerny, folky vibe to it, which brings the music really down to earth… if that makes sense… lol. But we were able to talk to her for a little bit afterwards, and she was a totally sweet gal with a cool edge to her. I put her song The Story as song for the day a while ago, but she has a lot of other really good songs. I thought her voice was amazing on the record, but it is seriously breath-taking live. Her albums were released just a few years ago, but I honestly think she must have improved so much already because it really is sooo good live. Then again, everything pretty much sounds better live haha. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you all. I’m going to head out here now, but I’ll talk to you all later!
P.S. I am loving Britain’s Got Talent right now! Just… wow… That’s all I can say lol.
So instead of songs for the day, I’m going to mention youtube links of 2 performers from Britain’s Got Talent that you HAVE to check out if you haven’t already. The first one is Susan Boyle, and the 2nd one is Shaheen Jafargholi. I freakin’ love these! lol. I think both of them are such cool stories and performances. It gives me chills.
New Blog: Last week on tour
Hey muchachos y muchachas! David here, and I’m in Pocatello, Idaho for our show here tonight. I have to get ready for the show tonight, so I’m going to try and be quick here. Lesley’s not on tour with us anymore
. I’m really going to miss her, but I wish the best for her! I think she’s going to be doing some TV appearances pretty soon, so look out for her! Amie Miriello will now be doing the last few shows with us. She is AWESOME. Her album is one of the albums I’ve been listening a lot too lately. I’ve mentioned her in one of my blogs before for her song “Snow.” It’s one of my favorite songs. So I hope you guys enjoy her! It’s really exciting to have her on board for a bit haha.
So this last week we had our Pomona, California show. It was our closest show to LA, and I saw a lot of familiar faces in the crowd! haha. I also had some friends come to the show. Jason (Castro) came with some of his family! It was awesome to see all of them, and I’m glad they were able to come. Jennette McCurdy (Sam on iCarly) also came! It was fun just hanging out with all of them backstage after the show. So I hope you guys had a fun time! Thanks for coming to the show! (Idk if either of you even read this but whatever haha.) Jason’s been working on a lot of original material right now and Jennette has a new single out right now called “So Close.” So if you want… you should check it out! We also had some GREEAAT shows after that. We had Reno, Idaho Falls, and Boise shows. These were some of my favorite shows to do! And the crowds were all awesome! Thanks you guys sooo much for coming out! I’ve been getting more and more into the shows every night. All right, so I better get ready for the Pocatello show tonight, and then we head for St. George tomorrow. If you guys happen to be near St. George area, please come! We’d love to have all the support we can at that show, and it’s sort of the warm up for Salt Lake. If you guys do come, I’d really really appreciate it. But anyway, I better head off now. I’ll ttyl!
P.S. I’ve been keeping up with this season of AI and would love to hear your thoughts on who you like the best. Leave me a message on my mobile fan club line and let me know! haha:)
Song for the day: I Came Around – Amie Miriello
This is another one of my favorites by Amie. I’d also recommend “Snow” again if you haven’t listened to that yet!
New Blog: Hawaii, American Idol & New Orleans
Hey guys! So I’m going to try and summarize this week since it was a pretty crazy one. We were able to look around the island of Oahu and do a lot of neat things there. We first went to the Sea Life Park and saw a dolphin show there. Then, we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center for a luau and saw the incredible show about all the different cultures of the Islands. Some other things we got to do were have shaved ice at Matsumoto’s, go to the Dole Pineapple Plantation, a macadamian nut store, and see a few beaches. we had
a really really good time, and I have fallen in love with Hawaii. I want to go back soon! It’s funny because even when it was lik 70 degrees, people who lived there were saying it was cold haha. I loved it.
New Blog: Update from Florida!
Heeey Eerrrrbody. I’m reporting from Florida today, and I’m having a grand time in my birth state haha. Last Saturday, both Mr. Cook and I got to perform at a corporate event for Primesource in Hollywood, Florida (Where I used to live!) I was nervous before I went on stage because it was the first time I’d done a set that long since my vocal chord paralysis issues a few years ago. I was hardly able to do 1 song after that happened, and so I was even nervous with the tour when I did 4 songs heh, just because I wasn’t sure if my voice would be able to handle it. But I did 10 songs for the corporate event, and my voice was fine! It just made me feel really good to know how much my voice has improved since that whole weird thing. We had a lot of fun though, and Cook and his band were amazing as always. It was good to see him, because I haven’t seen him in a while. It’ll be fun to see more of the old gang at the Disney thing coming up in a couple of weeks. I took some pictures of Cook and his band from backstage, but they’re really lame…. so… I’m not putting them up haha.
When I got to my hotel room after the event, I made it just in time to watch Jason Mraz perform on SNL! He sang I’m Yours, which I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of hearing, and Lucky with Colbie Caillat. Good stuff. Anyway, Sunday was the day of the Superbowl.
I wasn’t able to watch it because I was speaking at a church fireside at the last minute around that same time period. However, on my way to the fireside I called my friend to listen to Jennifer Hudson sing the National Anthem over the phone lol. It was so good! Jennifer has pipes! I watched it on youtube later. It was Steelers vs. Cardinals, and the Steelers won. I still have to watch Bruce Springsteen perform during the halftime.
So for the next little bit I’ll be doing some promo in Florida.
It’s really nice to be in Florida right now, especially when it’s snowing in Utah. Gotta love warm weather. I’ll be going to Hawaii too to sing the National Anthem at the Pro Bowl, and it’ll be my first time in Hawaii! Woot woot! That means more sunshine haha.
Well I hope anyway… at least more hanging out in warmer regions.
I’ll let you know how that goes next week. But I better head out now. I’ll let you know how the promo in Florida goes too! adios.
Song for the day: Rock & Roll – Eric Hutchinson This song puts me in such a great mood! It’s my feel-good jam! If they wanna rock, they rock, if they wanna roll, they roll
p.s. Tour dates have been announced and tickets are on sale! Be sure to check ‘em out and see which ones are by you!
Adele, Senior Ball and Miranda all in 3 days!
Hi all. David here with another blog. So this week I got to go to the Adele concert!! Adele is amazing amazing amazing amazing, and she sounds so good live! James Morrison opened up for her, and he sings with so much soul. It’s so weird to see him perform because white people usually don’t sing like that haha. But anyway, I loved how Adele didn’t move around a whole lot when she performed.
She was all about the voice, and didn’t try to change that. What’s also cool is that it was at the Murray Theater in Murray, my home town! A few of my friends came with me too, so good times haha.
This Saturday was another extremely exciting day, because I got to go to Senior Ball at my high school!! I didn’t think I’d ever get another chance to go to a school dance, but I asked management and they gave the ok and made time in the schedule for me to go. I had soooo much fun! For our day activity, we had breakfast and then played games. We fit in a lot of them too. We played dodge ball, basketball, musical chairs, apples to apples, and crab soccer. I got a good work out from the crab soccer too haha. We rocked out at the dance too, and even though I sweat so bad it was worth it.
The girl I got to go with was awesome too. After the dance we all watched Mall Cop, but I kept falling asleep lol. I was so tired.
And I had to wake up early in the morning anyway for a flight.
So yesterday, we flew back down to LA, and I did some things for Nickelodeon with Miranda Cosgrove. It was something that involved more lines to say, haha. So I was really nervous before we started, but once we got going I had so much fun! It felt like Miranda and I just hung out all day long, and she’s such a nice girl. But yeah, the lines were for Crush Night that’s coming up on February 7th! The day of my acting debut.. when the episode of iCarly I’m on airs. It really is so much fun working with all of them on that show. I wasn’t sure if I’d get to work with them anytime soon, so when I heard I was going to be working with Miranda Sunday, I was pumped! haha. But yeah, I’ll stop talking about that and save it for the week it comes on. But keep that on your calendars! It’s a big day haha. Well for me anyway. But yeah I wrote an awfully lot in this blog. But it was a big weekend! Adele, the school dance, and Miranda all in 3 days. But I will post some pictures for you guys. Bye bye.
Song of the week: Adele “Best for Last.” Her album is my favorite right now!
New Years Resolution?
I hope everyone’s having a great new year so far! I have an official resolution I have set which I’m going to try and keep up with this year, but I’m going to keep it to myself to see how well I do until the end haha… But if you guys don’t mind sharing your resolutions feel free to! I think it’s fun to know about those kinds of things. I performed at a thing in Orem, Utah called Newphoria which was great. My parents, little sisters, and a bunch of my friends were able to come and celebrate! I sang ALTNOY and Crush, and there were some other really neat acts there. My friends, The Osmonds 2nd Generation who were also performing earlier, got a hold of me and invited me to do it. I thought it was a really fun way to celebrate while at home, and I was sooo happy to have my friends and family there with me. We had a blast! Ashley Tisdale was also there hosting. We danced like idiots, and I got some good exercise out of it.
This weekend I went to San Diego to visit a girl for Make-A-Wish who was having a very difficult time battling cancer. It was probably one of the most special things I have ever experienced, and incredibly touching. It helped me even more to be motivated and act. We need to keep ..ing those who battle against such sicknesses. I want to thank those of you who are so strong in facing those kinds of obstacles, and are such an example of hope and strength. Something like that reminds me of what matters most in this life, and I hope to never forget that. I want to thank her and her family, and I want them to know I’m strongly keeping them in my prayers. I’m also so appreciative of Make-A-Wish for allowing incredible things to happen for kids and let their dreams come true. And THANK YOU!! to all of you guys for your donations that you’ve been sending for such great causes! A lot of you have made donations in my name, so thanks for doing that. I always think about how those donations will help out, even if it’s not a huge contribution. That small amount can help change someone’s life one way or another, and just thinking about it gives me the chills. But anyway, sorry for going off on that, I just felt like it was something important to let out.
While we were in San Diego, I got to meet up with one of my friends who was there on vacation. Their family was going to the Chargers vs. Colts game, so we decided to go too! It was such an exciting game, and I’m really glad I was able to see my friend haha. I think it’s cool to meet up with buddies somewhere different from where you live. It was my first NFL game, and the crowd was nuts. The really cool thing about it is the game was at Qualcomm Stadium, which is where I first auditioned for American Idol! It brought back a lot of memories of a lot of waiting lol. But it was cool, and neat to think about how it all started.
Today I’ll be singing at Utah’s Governor Huntsman’s inauguration, and even though it’s FREEZING… it should be a good time. I actually sang at the Governor Huntsman’s inauguration the first time lol. But yeah. It’s actually so hard to sing when it’s cold! I tend to lose my voice in cold weather, and I must be cold-blooded because I just don’t do well with low temperatures. I’ll let you know how it went in my next blog, but I better get going here. Unlike my last blog, this is pretty long haha. So I’ll talk to you guys later!
P.S. Before I go I wanted to mention one thing real quick. I was hanging out at my house when my parents called me in to watch a story on Oprah about this girl named Charice. I had seen her on youtube before and she was at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, but it was amazing to hear her story and her voice! She seriously has one of the best voices I’ve heard in a long time, and I had chills the entire time I was watching about her life. So instead of a song for the day I think you should check her out! It’s more like a person for the day haha. She was really inspiring and for those of you who haven’t heard her yet I think you’re in for a real treat! She sang My Heart Will Go On during her appearance on Oprah, and it’s amazing to see how much passion she has for what she does! I also loved how she talked about how important her mom was to her. I hope you guys enjoy!
New Blog: Jingle Ball wrap up
Jingle Ball wrap up
Hey All! I hope everyone’s having a fun time during the holiday season. I did the last few Jingle Ball shows this week, and it was such a blast! Sunday was Philly/South Jersey for Q102, and I was stoked because I got to run out and take a picture of a few things before I had to get ready and leave for the show. I got to see things like the first U.S. library and the Liberty Bell which was way cool. Then on Monday we went to Minnesota for KDWB, and it was the first time I got to see T.I. perform. It was soooo cold! I think it was like -27 with the windchill or something. It was fun though, because in downtown Minneapolis they have indoor walkways that go from building to building with shops all over. That way you don’t have to cross the street in the freezing cold haha. On Tuesday we went to Chicago for the B96 show, and it was really cold there too. It was my last show with my buddy Shontelle, who’s just a really cool girl haha. It was fun doing a lot of shows with her. After the soundcheck in Chicago, I had to go back to the hotel to get some stuff, and normally it takes like… 10 minutes to get there… But with how bad it was snowing and all of the traffic, it took us over an hour to get there. It was pretty painful lol. But luckily I made it in time to do the meet n greets and be prepared for the show. Wednesday in Atlanta for Star 94 was the last show for me, and it was sooooo much fun. I had a really great time, and during my set after I sang A Thousand Miles, the band and crew surprised me with a birthday cake since it was the last time I’d see them before my birthday. The crowd sang happy birthday and I tried to blow out the candles, but they kept lighting back up because they were trick candles haha. It was really cool of them to do that for me though, so thanks you guys! It was so awesome working with them on all of these shows. I felt really privileged to get to work with all of them who were really easy to get along with. My family in Atlanta got to come to the show too, and it was GREAT to see them again! I brought my cousin backstage to meet everyone, and she was really shy haha. Rehab, We the Kings, Colbie Caillat, and Gavin Degraw were all performers, and she got to meet all of them besides Rehab. It was a really cool laid back group of people, so it was a really enjoyable smooth show. Shawn Johnson, the olympic gold medal gymnast, was at the show too. So we got to meet her and she was really cool. During Gavin Degraw’s set while he was singing I Don’t Wanna Be (Which I love by the way) he called Colbie to go up and sing with him when she was standing on the side watching. So she went up and it was awesome! I loved it haha. Oh and another person who got to come to the show was Alexandrea Lushington from top 24! She left before I got to say hi, but I’m really glad she was able to come. So this week has been fun, and now it’s time to relax and spend time with the fam for the holidays. I’m not sure where we’re going to go quite yet, but we’re probably going to go somewhere that isn’t snowing haha. I love looking at the snow, but it’s no fun when you don’t have heat in your house. Oh and another thing. I have this drawer in my room where I keep a lot of memories in, like tickets, cd’s, papers, letters, etc.. and I open it up to put some more stuff… When I open it, all my papers are chewed up and there’s a nest mice made from all of my memories! I tried saving as much as I could, but there was a lot of damage done and I had to throw a lot away
. But it’s ok because it was an excuse to clean up haha. So now I’ve been decluttering my room, which is taking forever because more things keep coming into it. I still haven’t gotten a lot of the boxes that I sent home during the Jingle shows, and most of the stuff from tour is in boxes elsewhere. So my room is pretty much uninhabitable. But I’ll hurry and clear things up before we leave. But anyway.. I apologize for my disorganized rambling that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But I’m going to a Christmas party now, so I hope everyone has a good week! If you have any fun stories let me know about ‘em! Adios.
Song for the day: Snow – Amie Miriello
This is one of my favorite songs of the year. I thought it’d be appropriate as I now wipe the windshield filled with snow haha.
Jingle Ball Updates
Hi everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know about how the first radio show went! The first Jingle Ball was in Sacramento, and it was AMAAZZIINNGGG!!! I couldn’t believe how exciting it was! The other acts that were there were Jesse McCartney, Katy Perry, Boys Like Girls, and Shontelle. It was neat to have Shontelle there because I became friends with her at the Macy’s Parade haha. Go familiar faces! But I seriously had the time of my life. I was so nervous before the show, wondering what I was going to say on stage and how I was going to perform. It kind of just came out though, and the energy of the band and crowd was just such a great feeling. It was cool to see all the signs you guys made too! It made me feel more comfortable to see some of you guys out there cheering on, so thanks everyone for coming out! Hopefully you guys will get to go to a show if haven’t gone yet. If any of you are going to come to upcoming shows let me know.
Another really exciting thing that happened this week was filming the music video for A Little Too Not Over You. This video was so much fun! It took a lot longer, but I really had a great time. The director was really creative and fun to work with, and the people who were in the video were hilarious! They’re working on editing it and getting everything together now, but I can’t wait to see the finished product.
Other thing that happened this week: I lost my phone 2 days ago lol. That wasn’t nearly as fun and exciting as the other things, but oh well I guess. I’m pretty sure I left it on the plane, but they wouldn’t let me back on the airplane because the next destination it was going was an international flight to Vancouver. I guess you can’t go on the plane if it’s international because of security reasons or something. I couldn’t do anything about it either because we had to catch another flight going to Orlando, so I went to Orlando as my phone went to Vancouver. I’m actually kinda envious that my phone got to go to Vancouver before I did. I wish I went too lol. But I was really happy about going to Florida. I had a few things to do there like record a bunch of lines, and I got to go to Disneyworld! That totally cheered up my mood. We went to all of the parks and I was a happy camper. My aunt, uncle, and cousins who live in that area also came to visit, and I was really glad that I was able to hang out with them. Gotta love family. The sad thing is that I usually take pictures using my phone, so I didn’t have a camera until I went on the safari in Animal Kingdom. My camera died right after that anyway. I’ll try to put some pictures up though. We had the coolest tour guide helping us out too. He was really friendly and helpful. Oh David Cook was there too by the way. We ran into each other in front of Pirates of the Caribbean haha. It’s always fun bumping into him. Sorry I’m saying all of these events totally out of order but I can’t remember the exact… like… timeline haha. But anyway, I could go on forever about Disneyworld in a disorganized manner but then this would be 3 times longer and make even less sense than it already does. I’ll just mention one more thing before I go, I performed at the Hollywood and Highland Christmas Tree Lighting in California the other night. After that I dropped by the KIIS FM Jingle Ball. So for those of you who went, I hope you had fun!
P.S. Congrats to Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and Sara Bareilles for their Grammy Nominations!
Others that were nominated that I’m excited for: Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Coldplay, well a lot haha.
Song for the day: Extraordinary Machine – Fiona Apple
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey Guys! Just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!! We were in New York this week, and I had a blast! Yesterday was the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and that was really exciting. I was on the Green Dog float, and there were tons and tons and tons of people on the sides. It was pretty chilly too, but I heard that it was a really nice day compared to previous years haha. I bundled and layered up as much as I could though. I sang Crush near the end, and a couple of songs played during our time going down the streets. And there’s a mouse in here. Sorry I know that was random, but I can hear it wandering around and it keeps squeaking. I didn’t think there would be mice here but I guess there are… But anyway. Some kids from the PBS show Fetch were on my float too, and they were really nice kids. I also got to meet a bunch of other people who were in the parade, and it was really great getting to meet and talk with them. Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly was there too, and it was really cool to see and talk to her again. The sad thing is that I didn’t have my camera or phone with me, so I didn’t get to take my own pictures. Someone that worked there was nice enough to let me borrow their camera though before the parade started and I took pictures on my float, and on the Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends float! I know I’m such a dork but that’s my favorite cartoon lol. I was so excited to see it because it wasn’t too far behind me. But they were going to send me the pictures sometime soon.
The night before Thanksgiving, my mom and I went to see the musical In The Heights, and it was pretty much PHENOMENAL. It is seriously like one of my favorite musicals now. It was great that my mom was able to come to this particular musical too because it’s full of Latin music. So we had a great time with that, and also got to meet some of the cast members from it. I definitely recommend it if you ever get the chance to see it! The cast from the musical was also in the parade and did a number. Oh, the night before we saw the musical, my mom and I watched Twilight. I never read the books but a bunch of my friends are really into it, and the movie’s been getting a bunch of hype so we decided to go see it. I actually really liked it. The weird thing is when we walked into the theater Crush was playing so we walked back out because it was so weird haha. But anyway my blogs always get insanely longer than I intend for them to be, so I’ll end for today. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
P.S. It was really fun to see all the signs you guys made during the parade! haha
Songs for the day: Decode – Paramore (From the Twilight Soundtrack) It shows just how great of a singer Hayley is.
